3:30pm Saturday 19th October 2013 in News
A Devizes benefit cheat has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.
Kelly Price, 25, of Unicorn Mews, Sidmouth Street, pleaded guilty to two charges under the Social Security Adminis-tration Act 1992 and was given an 18-month conditional discharge at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Ms Price was ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £50 costs for failing to notify Wiltshire Council that her partner, Mr Harding, had been living with her.
The bench heard that Wiltshire Council carried out an investigation into Ms Price’s claim and obtained information that Mr Harding had been living with her for seven-months and working. Ms Price had been claiming as a single person.
This resulted in an overpayment of housing benefit of £2,517 and council tax benefit of £107, which will have to be repaid in full.
