New face behind the counter of Kington St Michael's village shop

Kington St Michael’s community-owned shop and Post Point has a new person at the helm.
Current shop manager Avril Balmforth retired last Monday after five years in the job and will be replaced by another villager, Hilary Leek, who said: “The shop and Post Point have gone from strength to strength during the time that Avril has been manager. It has become a vital part of the framework of the village.
“I look forward to working with the volunteers who have made it such a vibrant part of the village. We are open six days a week and, as well as the usual goods that you would expect in a village shop, we also provide a full worldwide postal service.”
The shop is owned by more than 100 shareholders. Opening hours are 9am–5pm weekdays and 9.30am–1pm Saturdays.
