Field of dreams comes true for Hullavington farmer
12:00pm Monday 7th October 2013 in News
Mark Butler is adding Marley to barley with a new music venture on his crop farm.
After a day of harvesting, the Hullavington farmer is play bass in one of his bands.
Now, with Piccadilly Parties, he has come up with a solution to combine business with pleasure, offering hire of his farmland for parties – house band included.
He runs Court Farm, which has been in his family since 1976, with his wife Helen and brother Tim.
Helen Butler, 41, said: “We were looking for ways to diversify and Mark would love to pursue his music career more, so it seemed to make sense to combine the two.”
Mark, 51, who is a member of five bands, this year played a major set at WOMAD festival with his country rock outfit Grey Earls. He also plays in Hipkiss, the Steve Browning Band, the Patsy Gamble Band and The Hawds.
Piccadilly Parties already has two bookings for its five-acre field in the pipeline, a wedding and an 85th birthday party.
Prices start at £1,000 for field hire, which includes public liability insurance, and increases with hire of Mrs Butler as events manager. The top deal offers a marquee, toilets, catering and entertainment.
