Club’s logo takes prize for branding

Cprsham Rugby Club has been scoring successes on and off the pitch in its 50th year, after scooping a major international prize for its new logo.
The club’s new look, which was completely revamped for the landmark anniversary, has won a prestigious American Graphic Design Award, making it the first rugby club to receive such an honour.
Under-9s coach Matt Hooper said: “We were wanting to use the anniversary to put through a whole new plan for the club, so I asked a friend of mine at a design agency if they could come up with a new logo.
“They did it as a favour, but they got into the project and started enjoying it. I think they came up with something revolutionary, without changing too much; it’s still got the traditional red griffin, and the same colour scheme.”
The agency, London-based Rare Breed designs, entered the project into the American Graphic Design Awards alongside its work for major national companies, and ended up winning for best brand identity.
Mr Hooper said: “It was amazing to think we were going toe-to-toe with some of the biggest brands in the world.”
