Talent will shine out as Devizes choir sings
6:00pm Thursday 3rd October 2013 in News
THE children and adults of St John’s Church Choir in Devizes will showcase their individual musical talents when they put on a concert tomorrow.
Billed as a programme ranging from Bach to Barbershop, the audience at St Mary’s Church in New Park Street, Devizes, can look forward to an evening of wide-ranging musical entertainment.
Some 30 choristers of all ages – some as young as eight – will perform a mix of serious and light-hearted vocal and instrumental items, as well as coming together to sing an uplifting piece of music celebrating the saints.
St John’s musical director Chris Totney said: “This is always one of the highlights of the year, as the choir members take the opportunity to showcase their huge variety of talent.
“Holding the concert at St Mary’s this year will only add to the atmosphere, as it will give the audience a rare chance to glimpse a snapshot of the music we perform together from week to week in such a glorious acoustic.”
The concert starts at 7.30pm and there will be a retiring collection in aid of St Mary Devizes Trust, which is working to regenerate the 12th century listed building as an arts space for the community.
