Final steps for Corsham walkers
8:00pm Wednesday 18th September 2013 in News
THE end of the road was in sight for Wiltshire’s weary walkers on Thursday after they completed the last of five walks around the county.
A total of 190 people went to Corsham Court for the fifth walk of the summer in the Get Wiltshire Walking challenge, where they completed a five-mile route around its grounds.
The scheme, organised by Wiltshire Council, set out to encourage people to explore the county’s top walks, with one organised every May in Avebury, Wylye Valley, Cricklade and the Westbury White Horse.
At the end of the walk the volunteers who helped lead the scheme were presented with commemorative mugs by Councillor Jonathon Seed, cabinet member for leisure.
Wiltshire Council health and physical activity manager Clare Webb said: “The walks have been really successful, people have absolutely loved going to new places and meeting new people. Corsham was our last walk of the summer but we’ve been out in all weathers, with about 100 people each time.
