Ride tribute to late Mum
1:00pm Saturday 21st September 2013 in News
Fundraisder Paula Power is cycling 400 miles through India in memory of her mother, who travelled the world a year after doctors gave her six months to live.
Inspired by her mother Jean, who died aged 69 from cancer in January, Paula, of Upper Minety, will ride on desert tracks in intense heat as part of her challenge from November 9.
“My mum was one of these people that, when she got her mind set, there was no stopping her,” said Paula.
“She was very determined and she just decided to go travelling and make the most of her time.”
India was one of the places she didn’t visit, which is why her daughter chose it.
Mrs Power was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2011.
Instead of letting it hold her back, she travelled to Singapore, Fiji, New Zealand and New York with her daughter, and grandaughter, Evie, seven.
The India cycle challenge will raise money for St Peter’s Hospice, who looked after Mrs Power.
