Chippenham tenant is evicted after admitting drug charge
1:55pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
CHIPPENHAM resident Wayne Kemp has been evicted after admitting having drugs in his flat.
Pregnant 22-year-old Chloe Harding also had to leave their Field View flat yesterday after the court bailiff arrived.
Landlord GreenSquare had their property repossessed after they breached the terms of their tenancy agreement and an injunction order to curtail anti-social behaviour.
Police found cannabis in a raid on the flat on August 8, and Mr Kemp pleaded guilty to possession at Chippenham magistrates’ court on September 5.
As police waited outside his door yesterday for him to leave, Mr Kemp, 36, said: “If I said what was on my mind I’d get arrested.”
He was supposed to be out by 9am, but told police: “I am going, but unless you want to get your hands dirty and chip in, you’ve got a long wait.”
The injunction order, applied for by Green- Square and granted by county court in May, specified that if the tenants did not comply with the terms of their tenancy agreement, which prohibits the use of any illegal substance on the property, then they would face having their home repossessed.
Sue Burnett, Green- Square anti-social behaviour officer, said: “We do not tolerate those who engage in anti-social behaviour or illegal activities.”
