Bromham charity day aids children
4:00pm Friday 13th September 2013 in News
A FAMILY fun event in Bromham to raise money for the National Deaf Children’s Society has exceeded expectations.
The event, on Saturday, was organised by Tom and Zara Goodier at The Greyhound pub, where they both work.
The couple’s ten-month-old daughter, Evie, is partially deaf and they wanted to raise money for the charity as it has helped them by providing them with information and support.
There were animals on show, including alpacas, goats, chickens, guinea pigs and horses. Visitors enjoyed cream teas and there was live music by John Baker, who sings at the Greyhound’s barbecues, plus others.
The prizes for the raffle covered two big tables and altogether £1,030 was raised.
Mrs Goodier, 22, said: “We were hoping we would raise over £1,000 so we are really pleased with the amount. The event was packed out with people and luckily the weather held out. We would like to thank all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes.”
