It may only be the start of September, but Chippenham Mayor Sylvia Gibson is already thinking of Christmas.

She has launched a competition for children to design the mayoral Christmas card.

The winner will help her turn on the Christmas lights on November 29, while the winning design will be used on the mayor’s Christmas card on behalf of Chippenham Town Council, and will be posted to hundreds of the council’s contacts.

Coun Gibson, who will personally choose the winning design, said: “If you would you like to help me turn on the town’s Christmas lights, you need to win the Christmas card competition. You have to be in it to win it, good luck.”

This competition is open to all children attending nursery, primary and secondary schools in Chippenham or of nursery, primary and secondary school age and living in the town. The design should be seasonal and focus on an aspect of the town.
