12:52pm Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
Officers are appealing for the public's help following a robbery at a petrol station in Calne last week.
They have released CCTV images of two individuals they want to identify in connection with the incident.
Two males with their faces covered and hoods up entered the Murco petrol station shop at around 9:30pm last Tuesday, August 27. They approached the counter where one showed a knife to the cashier and asked her to fill a bag with cash and cigarettes.
Both males then headed out of the shop onto Oxford Road and made off on foot in the direction of Port Marsh. It is believed they left with close to £500 of cash and £300 of cigarettes.
The male carrying the knife is described as white and wearing a dark or green hoody, 3/4 length shorts or rolled up jeans with a distinctive white logo on a rear pocket and dark ankle boots.
The second male is also described as white and was wearing a dark hoody, black tracksuit bottoms with piping down the leg and white trainers.
Police, including a dog handler and the force helicopter, quickly arrived at the scene and began searching the area. A knife was recovered and a 17 year old local male was later arrested on Oxford Road on suspicion of robbery.
Following further enquiries a second 17 year old local male was arrested the next morning, Wednesday, also on suspicion of robbery. Both were later released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Anyone who recognises the individuals pictured in the CCTV or who has any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact DC Tom Allen at Melksham CID on 101. Alternatively people can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if they wish.
