Creativity on show in Malmesbury Abbey
5:00pm Saturday 31st August 2013 in News
Malmesbury Art Club members are displaying their work at Malmesbury Abbey to celebrate the town carnival.
The club, formerly known as Malmesbury Art Society, brings together painting and drawing enthusiasts of all abilities from the town and its surrounding villages.
It was established 20 years ago by a group of friends and has grown to a membership of about 100 amateur and professional artists.
Jill Stevens, who chairs the club with Mary Smith, said: “It’s very friendly and we welcome people and help introduce them to whatever they want to learn about.
“The quality of our exhibition is enormously high but when members start they’re not necessarily a high standard, I wasn’t when I started, and people exhibit when they want to.”
The club meets on the fourth Monday of each month, except August and December, at St Mary's Hall from 7-9pm and on the second Wednesday of the month at Malmesbury Town Hall, from 2-4pm. For more information contact Mrs Stevens on (01666) 825244.
