Rocking out at Box to aid cause
12:00pm Friday 30th August 2013 in News
The village of Box was rocking for charity on Monday as it hosted its 20th music festival.
The Queen’s Head pub was filled with revellers for Box Rocks; an eight-hour outdoor event that raised more than £3,000 for Bath RUH’s Forever Friends appeal.
The anniversary line-up saw many former headline bands returning to the pub, which was supporting the cancer centre appeal for the 11th year.
Blues Reviewed kicked things off, followed by performances from Exit Plan, The Duckworths and Funkinsteins, until the Rocking Horrors rounded off the night with a selection of songs from the Shrek films.
Pub landlord and festival organiser Dean Creighton said: “The bands we’ve had on have really rocked it.”
Forever Friends community fundraiser Zoe Tainton collected funds for the appeal, with £3,250 raised on the day.
She said: “Box Rocks have been so kind to support us for 11 years running.
“All those involved are kind, charitable supporters.”
