7:00pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
Tree lovers from across the country will descend on Westonbirt Arboretum this weekend for its annual Treefest.
The event attracts around 20,000 visitors and takes place from Saturday to Monday. It celebrates nature, trees, woodcraft and features activities, exhibitors and live music.
Big carving will take centre stage as this year’s sculptors create pieces inspired by fairytales.
Woodworking will be celebrated with a larger Working Woodlands exhibitor area and opportunities for visitors to try traditional woodcraft skills for themselves.
The main arena will host displays by the Black Mountains Falconry team and the Welsh Axemen, who will give skilled demonstrations with chainsaws and two-man cross saws.
For children, storyteller Michael Loader will tell tales with the Hand-to-Mouth puppet theatre.
Live music will be played until 8pm on Saturday and Sunday, and 5pm on Bank Holiday Monday.
Headline acts include multi-award winning folk-fusion outfit The Roving Crows, award-winning acoustic singer Nicky Swann and the Swindon band, Hip Route.
Day and weekend tickets are available.
Advance adult day tickets cost £10 and concessions are £8 while weekend tickets are £24 per person.
Camping for Treefest weekend takes place in a newly refurbished Camping and Caravanning Club accredited site at The Holford Arms in Knockdown.
