Devizes man appeals for return of grandad's memento
HEARTBROKEN Shane Spring is appealing for the return of a gold chain given to him by his late grandfather which was stolen during a break-in at his Devizes home on Tuesday.
Mr Spring, 25, returned to his home at Alan Cobham Road in Devizes from his work at Oakford Technology at 5.30pm on Tuesday. He told the Gazette: “My mother asked if I had taken any of her stuff. I told her no. Then I went to my room and saw my headphones were missing and it clicked that we had been robbed.”
The police were called but it was not until they had left that Mr Spring noticed that the 9ct gold chain was missing. He said: “The chain was draped over the photo of my grandad that I have beside my bed. It is very precious to me. I really need this chain back. The family is devastated by this loss. My grandad died two years ago. The chain had been given to him by my gran, who died before him.
“I have been on Facebook asking for information about it and have been around the town asking people. Yesterday was the worst day of my life.”
Also taken were a matching Svarovski necklace and bracelet that Mr Spring had bought his mother and two sets of headphones.
Anyone with information should contact Devizes police via the 101 number.
