Midwives and support staff at Chippenham Birthing Centre are gearing up for their second Mother and Baby Roadshow.

Following the success of their first Mother and Baby Roadshow in September last year, which raised £3,700 and received huge support from the community and local businesses, the birth centre have organised another roadshow on Saturday September 28 at Neeld Hall in Chippenham from 10am-3pm.

The family event is free to attend and will see a host of stalls from local businesses, including Tiny Toes Momentoes, Aquababies, The Real Nappy Company and Dr Eva Detko, hypnobirthing practitioner. Children will also get the opportunity to meet Peppa Pig, Gilbert Bear and a pantomime horse, courtesy of the local Hungry Horse pub & restaurant.

A raffle has been organised for the roadshow with some great prizes kindly donated by local businesses including pantomime tickets to the Theatre Royal in Bath, tickets to greyhound racing at Blunsdon with complimentary drinks, and a three course dinner for two at Guyers House Hotel & Restaurant.

Meg Cooper, midwife at Chippenham Birthing Centre, said: “We are so pleased to be holding another Mother and Baby Roadshow following the tremendous success of last year’s event.

"The turnout last year was great and so many people asked if we would be doing another roadshow so we are delighted to be able to run it again this year. Once again we have had a very positive response from local businesses getting involved and supporting the event.

“Our birthing centre is a valued part of the local community and the team and I enjoy being able to showcase the work we do here and meet local families.

"Last year the money raised from the roadshow was used to refurbish one of our delivery rooms with a new birthing pool, new lighting and soft furnishings. We hope to raise even more this year to help us carry out a further refurbishment on our other delivery room to create a more homely, less clinical environment for mothers and their babies.”

Organisers are still inviting local businesses to take part in the Roadshow. If you are interested in having a stall please contact either Di Butler or Alison Davis at Chippenham Birthing Centre on 01249 456434 before August 31. Stalls cost £30 and should be related to mothers and babies.
