Four Chippenham Air Scouts have achieved the highest possible award.
James Robinson, 12; Samuel Rose and Ben Purkis, both 13; and Josh Smith, 14, all from Chippenham, have picked up Chief Scouts’ Gold Awards after completing challenges involving camping, canoeing, gliding, climbing, archery and shooting.
They also had to show they understood global issues and have visited Ypres in Belgium. The troop showed community involvement by painting railings around the football pitch in Pewsham Park. And they were self sufficient in the New Forest for two days.
Scout leader Chris Jones said: “For the troop to have picked up four gold awards is really positive.”
They are now about to start working on the next set of awards that will lead them to become Queen’s Scouts.
