The latest member of Marl-borough’s neighbourhood policing team, Barry Reed, is returning to home ground.

Sergeant Reed has taken over from Vincent Logue, who will remain the sergeant at Pewsey.

The change has come as a result of Marlborough moving under the Royal Wootton Bassett neighbourhood area.

Sgt Reed has served with Wiltshire Police for more than 20 years and has most recently been working in Swindon town centre.

He said: “I am really excited about my new posting, having grown up in the Marlborough area and attended St John’s School.

“I believe that the experience and skills I have gained within the Swindon Borough neighbourhood policing teams will serve my new community well.

“I am committed to forging and developing strong relationships with the communities within Marlborough and the surrounding area. I am also keen to empower the public to work more closely with Wiltshire Police and our partners, ensuring we make our communities safer.”

In Swindon, Sgt Reed received a Chief Constable’s Commendation for his work in reducing anti-social behaviour in the town centre.

He said: “I was fortunate that the partnership working we developed in Swindon dramatically cut anti-social behaviour in the town and I am proud to leave the town centre in a better position.”

The Marlborough team was previously managed by Inspector Matt Armstrong, but since becoming part of the Royal Wootton Bassett area it is now led by Inspector Mark Thompson.

Insp Thompson said: “Sgt Reed is a welcome addition to our neighbourhood team in Marlborough and I am convinced he will put his previous policing experience to good use in serving the community. I have worked with Sgt Reed previously and I am looking forward to working with him again.”
