Hundreds of people flocked to Sherston for the village’s second annual two-day festival: Sherstonfest.

The music event, which ran for the first time in June 2012, saw revellers from across the country enjoy live music, local ciders and fine food at the weekend.

Festival organiser Dave Shephard said: “It was cool, very good. We sold out both nights.

“We had no trouble and lots of kids on the Saturday morning, and we had invited older people to come and have a cup of tea and a look round.

“This year was better than last year. The crowd was bigger. Because of the better weather than last year, the crowds fed off it.

“We had a lot more going on and lots more traders. It was really good.”

Friday night’s headline act was big band hip-hop group Lazy Habits.

Six-piece troupe Electric Swing Circus fused ’20s swing with electro beats on Saturday.

Other bands that performed over the two days included Mammoth Sound, Kenworthy, The Soul Destroyers, and The Ten Pound Suit Band.

Sherstonfest organisers arranged a number of activities for children at the festival. These included a samba parade, pizza building and junk modelling.

Festival-goers enjoyed food from a burrito bar, a wood-fired pizza stall and a 1974 French fire engine, from which breakfast rolls were sold.

Mr Shephard said: “It was a good mix of foods.

“Being in the centre of the village, people could have easily nipped home for a sandwich but there were queues all weekend.”
