The railway line between Pewsey and Bedwyn was re-opened just after 5am this morning in time for the morning rush-hour following the derailment of one of a Network Rail maintenance train yesterday.
Network Rail was able to re-open one of the lines yesterday at 5pm following the removal of the train from site and engineers worked through the night to repair the track and stabilise the embankment.
A railway embankment in the Pewsey area suffered a landslide early yesterday morning, causing a tree to fall on the line.
At 6:30am one of Network Rail's Rail Head Treatment Trains hit the tree, resulting in the front of the train derailing. There were no injuries.
A Network Rail spokesman said: "We would also like to apologise for any inconvenience this caused passengers yesterday.
"Our engineers have worked round the clock to fully re-open the line in time for this morning's rush hour. The track has now been repaired and the embankment has been stabilised."
