TWO teenage girls from Swindon have died after the car they were travelling in left the A419 and crashed into a hedgerow.

Wiltshire Police were called by a motorist who had seen a vehicle leave the road whilst it was travelling north on the A419 just past the junction with the A420 in Swindon at approximately 5am.

On arrival, officers found a grey Renault Clio with substantial damage in undergrowth about 20 metres from the road.

The 19-year-old driver of the car died at the scene and a female passenger was pronounced dead at Great Western Hosptial a short time later.

Two male passengers were taken to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital for treatment and they are said to be 'very poorly'. A third man was taken to GWH for treatment.

All of the men are aged 19 or 20 and all of the occupants of the car are from the Swindon area.

The A419 northbound remains shut between the A420 junction and the Blunsdon turnpike while police specialists carry out a thorough investigation.

Witnesses are asked to call PC Kevin Fry, of the Serious Collisions Investigations Team, on 101.

Police are due to give a statement at 1pm. We will update the website as we get more information.
