ADVANCE tickets are available for Bowood’s eighth annual charity dog show and summer fair on June 9, which is expected to raise thousands of pounds for charity.

The show was the idea of Lady Lansdowne, to benefit Macmillan Cancer Support after nurses from the charity cared for her father.

Since it started, the show has raised £163,000 for organisations including Wiltshire Blind Association, Wiltshire Bobby Van and Age UK.

The Companion and Family Dog Show, held under Kennel Club rules, will start at 11am. Entries, costing £2, will be taken on the day.

Having wowed visitors two years ago, Bactrian camel Thérèse is back due to popular request and will be joined by her partner Temujin.

The pair made their stage debut in The Golden Journey – a dramatised history of the Silk Road – in aid of the Wild Camel Protection Foundation at the Royal Opera House, London, in January.

Bowood show organiser Mike Weston said: “It’s not only a dog show – there are many other things to do.

“It’s weather dependent, but we have had as many as 20,000 people [in the past].”

Popular attractions include Tractor Ted’s Farm Show, bale wrapping, digger dancing, combine harvester and vintage tractor displays, small animals, a shop and a cinema. There will also be children’s rides and attractions, and a full range of food and drink stands.

Advance tickets are on sale until May 31 at £8 per adult and £4 per child. To book, visit www.tractorted.co.uk For more about the show, visit www.bowooddogshow.org
