Dauntsey's School teacher Max Ryan has gone airborne for her latest book of photographs, which features shots of landmarks like Avebury stone circle, the Caen Hill flight of locks and Salisbury Cathedral.

Ms Ryan, 36, who lives in Frome, has been taking pictures since she was a teenager but she took to the air for her latest collection, entitled Bird’s Eye View.

The book, designed by Luke Manning, is on sale at Original Glory Interiors in Long Street and Lignum in St John’s Street, both Devizes. She said: “I was born and brought up in Guernsey, which is where I started taking pictures and I have been doing so ever since.

“Shooting from a helicopter was just amazing, especially as the door had to be open so I could take the pictures.

“We worked out our itinerary before we set off so we could get to the places I wanted to photograph and have time to do the shoots.

“I worked on the book for about a year in holiday time and I am delighted with the results.”

Ms Ryan, whose given name is Maxine, teaches design and technology at Dauntsey’s in West Lavington. She took a degree in film at Bristol University and worked in the film industry for four years before moving into teaching.

Aerial photography was a challenge for her as she suffers from a fear of heights.

She said: “Once I was airborne, though, I loved it.”
