The best of Wiltshire’s businesses were honoured at the 19th Wiltshire Business of the Year Awards at Center Parcs last night, with three firms picking up double honours.

Trowbridge-based office equipment supplier Office Evolution Ltd was named Small Business of the Year, as well as winning top plaudits for its services to the community.

Devizes’ agriculture, security and construction firm TH White picked up the Apprenticeship Employer of the Year and Overall Excellence awards, while IT Solutions firm Excalibur Communications of Swindon won the Innovation and Growth Award, and saw their CEO James Phipps named Business Person of the Year.

The ceremony, organised by Newsquest Wiltshire, publishers of the Swindon Advertiser, Gazette & Herald and Wiltshire Times, was held at Center Parcs’ Longleat Forest holiday venue, near Warminster, with the local business community coming together to celebrate the successes of the last 12 months.

Other winners included Swindon’s health and social care providers Seqol, which won the Customer and Staff Care award and Corsham’s Park Lane Press, in the environmental category.

The main sponsor for the awards is Thrings Solicitors, who presented the award for excellence - the Wiltshire Business Of The Year 2012.

The other sponsors are Nat West, Mainline Employment Ltd, RSM Tenon, BBC Wiltshire, Business West, the European Union regional development fund, Wessex Chambers and Newsquest, the owner of the Swindon Advertiser.

John Davies, the head of Thrings’ south west corporate team, said: “I have been judging these awards for a number of years and I can honestly say the quality of entrants this year was exceptional.

“From sole traders to nationally recognised businesses the entrants have displayed innovation, organisation, growth and sustainability.

Shamus Donald, the managing director of Oxford and Wiltshire Newsquest, said: “Without sponsors these events would not happen so I am grateful for their support.”
