A PARODY music video based on the youth of Pewsey has become an internet sensation.

The video was created by 16-year-old Lewis Nicholls, of Bailey Road in Pewsey, for his film and TV production course at New College in Swindon.

And after being on video-sharing website YouTube for just four days, the video – called Wiggas in Pewsey – had 5,000 hits.

The former Pewsey Vale pupil, who has lived in the village for eight years, said: “As part of my course we had to make a music video and I chose to do this.

“I got the idea because young people in Pewsey have a bit of a reputation for hanging around the Co-op and recently they’ve been in the newspaper because of boy racing in car parks.

“I wasn’t expecting so many hits; I thought it would get about 20 hits from friends and family so I was quite surprised.

“People around my age who have seen it think it’s really funny and a true representation of Pewsey.”

The satirical video, based on a popular rap song by Jay-Z and Kanye West, shows seven of Lewis’s friends in various locations around Pewsey, including Swan Meadow, The Oak pub and Woodborough Garden Centre.

The star of the video is 17-year-old Liam Pollock, who attends St John’s in Marlborough.

Lewis said: “At first he wasn’t sure about doing it when I told him what it was going to involve, but now he loves it.

“He’s become a bit of a local celebrity since we put it on YouTube and people go up to him and ask him about it.”

The parody has proved to be such a success that Lewis already has plans for future videos in the pipeline.

He said: “My family think it’s really good and well made.

“We’ve had some great reviews and people have asked us if we’re going to do another one. We all have exams coming up so we’re thinking of starting the next one in June. It’s definitely something I want to carry on doing after I finish college.”
