Volunteer Centre Wiltshire has set up a new mentor supported volunteering (MSV) service in Chippenham for people with additional needs who want to volunteer in the community.
People with additional needs are one of the least likely groups to enquire about volunteering, according to research by the centre.
Lucinda Thelwell, project development worker, said: “This new service will help them to get involved. We are looking to hear from people in Wiltshire who want to volunteer but, for one reason or another, just haven’t felt able to until now.”
A trained mentor would meet the volunteer every week and give support.
To find out about MSV and volunteer opportunities, there is an open coffee morning at 3-4 New Road, Chippenham, on Monday from 10am-noon.
