Town is the tenth best in country
2:50pm Thursday 21st March 2013 in News
The people of Marlborough have always known it was a great place to live and now it’s official with the town hitting The Times’ best towns in Britain list.
The market town was number 10 out of the 30 towns that made it onto the list with Arundel in West Sussex coming out top.
Marlborough was described as being great because: “As a schoolgirl, the Duchess of Cambridge would spend her lunch shopping with friends in the town’s many boutiques and independent shops. The Marlborough Downs are on the doorstep.”
Coun Val Compton, who lives in Kennet Place, said: “It’s got everything. It’s a quintessential market town but when you’re standing on the High Street you can walk in any direction and come across downland, woodland or the river.
“I was standing on Granham Hill the other day, where you can see the whole of Marlborough from, and it was just breathtaking and I thought how lucky I am to live here.”
