Suzie Fisher and Edwina Fogg are organising a race night for the Mike Bracey Appeal
The mayor of Marlborough is encouraging people to support a charity race night for the Mike Bracey Appeal.
Inspired by the death of her neighbour Mike Bracey, Coun Edwina Fogg named Prospect Hospice as her charity of the year in her inauguration speech.
Mr Bracey died at Prospect Hospice last April aged 60, less than six months after being told he had cancer.
Tomorrow night the town hall will be screening eight races on the big screen, staring from 7.30pm, and women have the chance to show off their most fabulous headgear with a Royal Ascot hat competition.
Mr Bracey’s partner, Suzie Fisher, who sits on the Mike Bracey Appeal Committee, said: “When Edwina named it as her charity of the year, so many people came to me to offer help.”
Race goers have the chance to buy and name a horse and Coun Fogg has aptly named hers Lady Mare.
Coun Fogg said: “Everyone is looking forward to it. It should be a good night.”
