Friends of Devizes shooting victim's son pay tribute to her warmth and kindness

Friends of Vicky Rose’s sons have paid warm tributes to her kindness and warm welcome to her home.

James Newton, of Rodbourne in Swindon, said she was a generous caring person.

He said: “Vicky was one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, brightening up every room she entered and never lost for something to say.

 

“In all the years I have known her, I have never seen her down or depressed – she was one of those people that loved life and appreciated every second of it.

“Vicky was devoted to her friends and family, leaving behind her two sons and mother, and would go out of her way to please, and help, them. Her death will leave a massive void in the lives of everyone who knew her.”

His wife Rebecca added: “I have never met a more upbeat and friendly person as Vicky. She had an infectious personality, was always welcoming, and was never short of a word or two. I feel truly honoured to have known her; she will be sorely missed.”

Son Johnathan’s friend Nathan Emm said: “Vicky was always good to speak to and I could tell her anything in confidence. I only have good memories of sharing food and wine with her.

“At one point I practically lived at her house. She always treated John’s friends like family, cooking Sunday lunch and keeping the fridge full and she never minded coming home to a house full.

“Since I’ve settled down I’ve seen her less but every time I have been to her house or just bumped into her in a supermarket, I’d always end up chatting with her for hours. I am really gutted for John and Matt.”

Another friend, Lee Hopgood, said: “Vicky was one of the most warm, caring and bubbliest people that I have had the honour of knowing.

“My relationship started off as being just my friend’s mum but she soon became a friend herself and at times more like a second mum.

“I would often go round to visit John and end up having a cup of tea and a good old chat with her first but that was Vicky, so easy to talk to and get along with. I just wish I could tell her how much we thought of her."
