Organisers of a coffee morning in aid of Home-Start Kennet were delighted and astonished to have raised over £660 from the event.
Trustee Wendie Hockley, who organised the event at a house in Wick Lane, said: “We are delighted with this result and the help I received was tremendous. I want to thank everyone who lent a hand and everyone who attended.”
The event was attended by Kelvin and Pam Nash, the town’s mayor and mayoress.
Home-Start offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children. The service recruits and trains volunteers, who are usually parents, to visit families at home who have at least one child under five, to offer informal, friendly and confidential support.
