Witness appeal after motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 37-year-old Trowbridge man suffered serious leg injuries after a crash on the A361 near Semington on Tues-day night.

The incident happened at 7.02pm between the roundabout on the junction of the A350/A361 and the roundabout near West Wilts Crematorium.

The rider, travelling from Trowbridge to Melksham on a Yamaha 600, collided with a central refuge illuminated bollard outside the crematorium. He was hurled into the air, before landing on the front of a passing black Saab 95 car, travelling in the same direction.

The motorcyclist, who sustained a broken leg in the incident, was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath, and was due to be released this week.

The driver of the Saab, who is also local, was shocked but not hurt in the collision.

Two broken legs, he got off lightly with that kind of impact. Lucky for him he did not hit another vehicle meaning more injuries. Thinking on that stretch of road it will be interesting for the police to work out how this accident occured. Lucky this man is not seriously injured as it could of been a lot worse.

A 38-year-old motorbiker from Towbridge was taken to hospital with two broken legs after he collided with a bollard near the West Wiltshire Crematorium at 7pm tonight.


Towbridge?
The biker was very lucky indeed.

We drove to and from Marlborough Monday night along that stretch of road and it was very foggy coming home at 8pm, may be it was last night too. Hope the poor chap get well soon.

Passing by there this morning I noticed that the central bollards are very dirty and would be difficult, if not impossible to see in the dark. Hope the gentleman recovers fully very soon.

But surely if there are central bollards, overtaking there is forbidden? So it would seem to be his own fault?

I see them in the dark every night, apart from Tuesday night as I was forced to take a different route because of an accident
