Sutton Benger school governors win seal of approval
8:21am Tuesday 5th March 2013 in News By Julie Armstrong, Senior reporter
Sutton Benger Primary School’s Governing Body is one of only 100 in the country to have been awarded the Governor Mark.
The Governance, Leadership and Management Partnership award the Kitemark where they judge a school to have quality governance.
Headteacher Suzanne Lloyd said: “The process used to examine the quality of the work of a governing body was a rigorous one and the achievement of this national award is one that governors here should feel rightly proud of.”
Assessors highlighted the high level of the governing body’s integration into the school’s leadership structure, as well as a high level of trust between the governors and headteacher.
They also praised the good use of financial benchmarking and good partnership working with other schools in the area.
Chairman David Sewell said: “When we first decided to apply for Governor Mark we knew it was not going to be easy as it really tests the whole spectrum of the workings of a governing body.
“I am very lucky that all of our governors are very committed to the school and give many hours of their spare time to their roles. However, we are also not complacent and we will always strive to improve further.”
