Crime in Devizes has dropped, according to the latest figures.
Inspector Matt Armstrong, the sector commander for Devizes, Marlborough and Pewsey, told Devizes Town Council last week that reported crime was down.
He said there had been a 20 per cent decrease in total crime, or 279 fewer offences, while the detection rate had increased by five per cent.
He said house burglaries had dropped by 25 per cent (14 fewer offences), while vehicle crime was down by 55 offences and criminal damage had fallen by a total of 100 offences.
Violence against the person had increased by two per cent (four more offences) while incidents of anti-social behaviour had fallen by 132 offences.
The figures are for the period from February 2012 to January 2013.
