The organisers of Devizes Festival have announced a wide range of music events for this year’s programme from classical to alternative rock,

The New Model Army, a post-punk alternative rock band formed in Bradford, West Yorkshire, in 1980 will be coming to the Corn Exchange on Friday June 21 while Kate Dimbleby, daughter of broadcaster David Dimbleby, brings her own brand of jazz singing to the Merchant’s Suite in the Corn Exchange on Wednesday June 12, accompanied by Naadia Sheriff on the piano.

The Paragon Singers, who specialise in renaissance, baroque and contemporary music will perform in St John’s Church on Monday June 17. Sarah Savoy and the Francadians, a group of dedicated musicians based in Paris, presents a programme of Cajun music in the Merchant’s Suite on Friday June 7.

Graffiti Classics string quartet come to the town hall on Sunday June 9. Described as 16 strings, eight dancing feet and four voices, the group brings scintillating slapstick with brilliant arrangements and mischievous humour.

London-based freelance musician Sue Heath-Downey, currently organist at St Paul’s Church in Deptford but whose family is from Devizes, performs this year’s organ recital at St John’s Church on Saturday June 15.

Zoe Rahman, one of the brightest stars on the contemporary jazz scene, is on stage at the town hall on Monday June 17.

Once again there is a vibrant free festival fringe culminating on a Fringe Day on Saturday June 15 when the Dave Betts Quintet performs at Pizza Express, Alex Lowe is at The Lamb and Nick Harper plays at the Southgate Inn.

The full programme will be published in April and the box office will open at Devizes Books in May.
