Claire Perry MP and Philip Hammond, Secretary of State for Defence, have recently returned from a short but intensive visit to Afghanistan.

Together they visited Kabul, the Afghan capital, and Helmand Province and had meetings with local politicians, diplomats, entrepreneurs, military leaders, British, American and Afghan troops on the ground both in Camp Bastion and in several remote bases.

Mrs Perry said: “The professionalism and commitment of our Armed Forces was as clear as ever, as was the progress being made by the Afghan Armed Forces in taking over their own military operations.

“More than 10,000 members of the Armed Forces live in my Constituency and it was particularly inspiring to meet so many Wiltshire based solders as well as the unofficial record holder for Devizes to Westminster canoe race.”

wasting more of our money she cant fix the problems in wilts for the troops at or due home. god know what damage she can do away !!!

Unlike my own MP (in a neighbouring constituency), who takes no account of his voters' opinions, I was under the apprehension that she listened to people. I am obviously wrong in that she just follows the party line, with nice photo opportunities.

smug smirking Perry again, a photo op at any opportunity, as long as its got nothing to do with her constituency.

Can anyone name anything constructive she has done for Devizes and area?

Obviously she has great hopes for her political career, but I hear there have been murmurings of discontent amongst Devizes Tories and mutterings about de-selection.
I do so hope so.

Another photo-op grabbed with both hands. Another set of pictures for the portfolio. Ms. Perry will be with us for some decades, I fear.
No doubt able to entertain us with a toothy grin and irrelevant statement on each Jolly. Er - sure I meant highly necessary visit on behalf of the PM.

Gambia, Afghanistan oh the life of a back bench MP. Attending to matters on the home front would be good like train services, troops, employment and making sure Wiltshire Council don't make a complete horlicks of things.
