Clare Morris and Robert Dyer were married in Chippenham on Valentine's Day
Sherston couple Clare Morris, 42, and Robert Dyer, 51, wed on Valentine’s Day after meeting through the Gazette & Herald’s Two’s Company section.
HGV driver Mr Dyer advertised himself as a single dad, slim and outgoing and looking for love.
He had almost given up hope when Miss Morris replied months later. Three years later they have a 16-month-old girl together and were getting married today in Chippenham.
Miss Morris, who cleans in a hotel, said: “It’s the day everybody is celebrating romance in some way, so it’s quite nice.
“I didn’t think they’d be able to fit us in at the register office when I rang up just before Christmas, but they had one space left.”
Mr Dyer liked her immediately.
“She was the third woman who answered the ad and it was her I liked – third time lucky,” he said.
“She’s pretty and she’s got a good sense of humour. I would never have dreamt of putting an ad in before but I was coming up to 50 so I thought I’d give it a go so I did – and it turned out well.”
Miss Morris moved from Devizes so they could be together. They both enjoy the countryside and walking their black labrador, George.
There was no romantic proposal but they mutually decided they wanted Victoria to grow up with her parents married.
Miss Morris wore a plain cream dress and Victoria will be chief bridesmaid while they were also joined by Mr Dyer’s eight-year-old daughter Abigail and Miss Morris’s nine-year-old son Max.
