Clean bill of health for new Calne 'community' business

Helena and Paul Dunn at the new launderette
Calne businesswoman Helena Dunn opened a laundrette with a difference on Sunday.
The laundrette, based at The Strand, is Mrs Dunn’s second business after she set up FMW Recycling, based in Wotton Bassett, with her husband Paul five years ago.
Since then the company, which carries out large multinational contracts for electronic waste recycling, has become self-sufficient.
The couple, who live in Shelburne Road, have started their second business right in Calne’s town centre where they hope to become a community hub for residents.
The laundrette, housing five large washing machines and dryers, will be brightly coloured and have wi-fi and a coffee machine available.
It will offer washing and ironing services, as well as alterations, duvet washing, and bespoke washing for hair salons, beauty salons, care homes and hotels.
To get the laundrette ready Mrs Dunn used local suppliers, including Kevin Wells of Goldmans Interiors, local builder Tom Davis of T David Buildings and Jamie and Jenni of JJ Signs and Designs.
Mrs Dunnsaid she has received positive feedback after consulting local businesses.
It has been a lifelong dream for her to open a laundrette as she used to enjoy going to the local laundrette in Islington, London, with her mum when she was a child.
Mrs Dunn said: “I’ve always wanted a laundrette since I was seven. I just remember going in my mum’s pushchair and loving the smell and the sense of community there. It was like a day out for me.”
The laundrette will open from 9am to 6pm every day except for Sunday.

Most people own an automatic washing machine and a tumble dryer now dont they!
I hope they do well. Makes a change from Charity shops and coffee shops.
