A week-long series of events highlighting the benefits and importance of good health will kick off at County Hall, in Trowbridge, on Friday.

The interactive Health Fair, run by Wiltshire Council with partner organisations, will focus on different aspects of good health and what people can do to get healthy for 2013.

Themes will include healthy eating, advice and support on quitting smoking and a focus on mental health.

Maggie Rae, corporate director, said: “Our Health Fair is an opportunity for people to get practical advice from a range of professionals on how they can improve their health.

“Over time small steps and changes can make a big difference to our health and wellbeing, and there is no better time to make the change than in the new year.”

Keith Humphries, cabinet member for public health and protection services, said. “I am grateful to all of the organisations that we work closely with for taking part in our Health Fair. Their advice and guidance will be invaluable for those who come along.”

In addition to Friday’s launch, at 10am, the fair will be open daily in the Atrium at County Hall from Monday to Friday February 8, 10am-2pm, where the public will have the opportunity to learn about mental health and alcohol awareness and be involved with physical activities.
