Chippenham to host frock swap
4:15pm Monday 21st January 2013 in News By Anne Moore
Fashionistas are invited to a frock swap giving participants the chance to refresh their wardrobes for free.
A frock swap will be held at Sheldon Road Methodist Church on Saturday January 26 from 11.30am to 2pm.
On the day particpants come along with their clothes and are given a voucher saying the number of clothes they’ve bought. Then they have half an hour to view the clothes, which are all displayed on hangers, and the swapping begins.
People are allowed to swap up to the number of garments they have bought and to try on clothes in changing rooms with mirrors. People can also bring along accessories and shoes to make sure they have something matching before they decide.
There are refreshments available and the church also hopes to have a beauty therapist on hand to do free hand massage and mini manicures.
Organiser Jackie Beckett said: “Having seen Twiggy set up frock swaps on tv some years ago they have now become an annual event at Sheldon Road.
“Everyone has great fun updating their wardrobe for free - it’s a great morning for the ladies to have some time to themselves too, plus a bit of pampering thrown in for free. We have had everything from prom dresses to walking boots.
“Since starting these mornings five years ago the economic climate has of course got worse and there's even more need for events like these - everyone always asks now when the next one is coming up.”
Please make sure all donations are clean and in a good condition and accessories and shoes should be placed in bags or boxes.
