Pupils from Years 2 to 6 at St Margaret’s Preparatory School, Calne, worked hard to ensure its Green Flag status was renewed
A school's own green team has been making sure it is eco-friendly in every way.
Its vigilance has meant St Margaret’s Preparatory School, Calne, has had its Green Flag award renewed by Keep Britain Tidy.
St Margaret’s Eco Committee has kept an eye on everything, from ensuring as much school waste as possible is recycled. During National Waste Week, children were rewarded with stickers if they ate everything on their plate at lunch.
Healthy snacks were introduced at break times to promote healthy living.
The Eco Club has also been improving the school’s wildlife area to attract more birds, insects and animals and energy is being saved by every class appointing an eco monitor to make sure lights and electrical equipment are switched off.
Teacher Cathie Bell, a member of the Eco-Schools Committee, said: “Everyone continues to be incredibly committed to making our community as sustainable as possible.”
