Dog walker rescued after falling into river at Chippenham
9:34am Tuesday 8th January 2013 in News By Julie Armstrong, Senior reporter
A dog walker spent 20 minutes in bitterly cold water after falling into the River Avon in Chippenham on Thursday night.
The 24-year-old slipped and fell with his pet into the river near Sadlers Mead just after 10.30pm.
He was rescued after a woman heard cries for help and called 999.
The man had reached the end of Baydons Lane when police and ambulance crews dragged him out of the water at 11pm. He was cold but unhurt.
His dog was found safe and well and returned home.

Well done to the officers for ignoring her and doing a great job here saving lives with your ambulance colleagues.
