Rock greats including 10cc, Paul Jones and Georgie Fame will be performing in All Cannings at a charity concert.

After the success of 2012’s debut Concert at the Kings, which raised £30,000 for charity and included stars Brian May and Mike and the Mechanics, the organisers have announced some of the acts performing on May 25.

The concert will again be held in the field behind the Kings Arms pub, with music from noon until late.

10cc, led by founding member Graham Gouldman, are best known for hits I’m Not in Love and Rubber Bullets.

Paul Jones is the former lead singer of Manfred Mann and will be joining other stars in The Blues Band.

Georgie Fame, a rhythm and blues and jazz singer and keyboard player, had No 1 hits Yeh Yeh, Get Away and The Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde and has also performed with Van Morrison.

Organiser John Callis, who lives in Beechingstoke and is a sound engineer for Sir Paul McCartney, said he had a great response from bands and artists when putting together the line-up.

He said: “A lot of bands have been in touch and said they would love to play. The word has gone around the business that last year’s concert was such a success and it’s a great show – very intimate and relaxed. The artists last year said it was like playing in their back gardens.

“I’m very excited about the line-up, the acts are from people’s childhoods.”

The SAS Band will be returning and the full line-up will be announced later.

Despite the stellar acts last year, the 5,000-capacity event was not sold out, so the organisers have started selling tickets earlier. They are available from The Kings Arms, All Cannings, and Sound Knowledge, Hughen-den Yard, Marlborough.

Last year’s event raised £12,500 each for Cancer Research UK and Above and Beyond, a charity that supports patients at Bristol hospitals, and £5,000 to good causes in All Cannings. Some of the money was used to buy gold implants used in revolutionary radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer.

Funds raised this year will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust and Above and Beyond. Both charities are working on a project to build a children’s ward for patients with cancer at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.
