Housing scheme gets go-ahead

Redrow has been granted outline planning permission to build 63 new homes on the Faccenda Chicken Factory site in Sutton Benger.

The housing company plans to build 44 private houses, consisting of two, three, four and five bedrooms, as well as 19 affordable houses.

It has also reserved 1,700 square metres on the ten acre area for commercial use.

Plans for the factory near Chippenham, which closed in 2008, were revealed to villagers in April last year.

Building is scheduled to begin in early spring this year with the first properties being available in the late summer.

Lee Hawker, land director for Redrow South-West said: “We are delighted to have secured this key strategic site.

“We look forward to working with officers to determine the reserve matters planning application so that these new homes can quickly make a vital contribution to Wiltshire’s housing land supply.”

The company also plans to contribute more than £366,000 towards local education, £10,000 towards bus stop improvements, and £24,000 towards public art and landscaping.

What a shame no rental properties are planned.
