Devizes mayor’s gig is a big hit
4:00pm Wednesday 19th December 2012 in News
The Ceres Hall at Devizes Corn Exchange was full to capacity for the Mayor’s carol concert last Wednes-day evening.
Some 120 children from St Joseph’s RC Primary, Southbroom Junior, Wansdyke Primary and Nursteed Primary sang, conducted by Michael Oliver and Lucy Wain with Dominic Irving accompanying on electric piano.
Devizes Town Band accompanied the singing of carols by the audience and also played a medley of their seasonal repertoire.
Prayers were led by the vicar of St John’s and St Mary’s, the Rev Canon Paul Richardson, and May-or Kelvin Nash, who play-ed in the band, thanked those who had made the evening such a success.
The event raised money for his Mayor’s Appeal, in aid of Devizes Opportunity Centre, Kennet Gateway Club and the Devizes Friday Craft Club.
