An outdoor skate park for the young people of Devizes should be up and running next summer after the town council approved a site for it on Green Lane playing fields.
This follows a meeting between town council officers and area board manager Richard Rogers last week.
Deputy town clerk Simon Fisher reported to the town council’s recreation and properties committee on Tuesday: “Although there are still some hurdles to overcome, the meeting was very positive and it is clear from the potential sites identified that Green Lane is the only viable site.
“It is proposed that a planning application will be submitted in January in the hope the facility will be ready in July.”
Coun Sue Evans said: “It is fantastic news that the skate park project has got this far. We have been waiting years to have one in Devizes.”
