Chippenham Scout Anne-Cecile Semichon has achieved a gold Chief Scout’s Award.
The award is the highest a scout can achieve and she is the first in her troop, the 10th Chippen-ham Air Scouts, to gain it. To gain the award scouts have to complete eight out of nine challenges.
Anne-Cecile, 13,completed all nine challenges including gliding, climbing, camping, canoeing, taking part in international camps, navigation exercises and community service.
Anne-Cecile was one of the scouts who painted the railings in Pewsham Park around the football field.
Scout leader Chris Jones said: “Not every scout achieves the gold award. It requires the individual to put themselves out to try new things and it brings all the elements of the scout programme together.
“The gold award is the pre-cursor to starting the explorer award scheme at 14, which is closely aligned with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.”
