A Trowbridge man is facing the loss of his livelihood after his snack van was stolen just three days after he started trading.

Murat Andak, 25, set up his van on the A361 near Potterne on Monday, November 12, but was distraught to discover it had been taken when he arrived for work on the following Thursday morning.

The van, worth more than £3,000 was missing from the layby it had been left in, along with £2,000 worth of stock. The white trailer has three distinctive ventilation chimneys on top, and a Best Kebabs sign on the front.

Mr Andak moved to Trowbridge from Milton Keynes last year with his wife, and set up the business serving kebabs and burgers after struggling to find work as a decorator.

He said: “All my hopes were in that business, but now I don’t know what I am going to do. This might ruin our lives.”

He came to England from Turkey in 2007, to study in Reading, and needs to work to keep his visa and support his wife, who is an arts and design student at Trowbridge College. The couple were married in Turkey six months ago.

As well as the van and all the cooking equipment inside, two bottled gas canisters were also taken.

There are no CCTV cameras on the road from which it was taken and, as yet, the police have no leads as to its whereabouts.

Mr Andak said: “My wife and I searched the road looking for any sign of it, but the police should be doing that not me. I am sure someone will have seen something, and someone out there can help us.”
