Chief Constable congratulates the new police and crime commissioner
9:20am Friday 16th November 2012 in News By Web Team
THE Chief Constable of Wiltshire Police has congratulated the county's newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner.
“I wish to congratulate Angus Macpherson as the first Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon," he said.
"Wiltshire Police is an excellent Force with dedicated and hard-working officers and staff and a good history of performance showing a reduction in overall crime over the last five years.
“The aim for Wiltshire Police remains one of reducing crime and anti social behaviour and keeping it one of the safest counties in the country.
“I look forward to working alongside Angus Macpherson, when he takes up office on November 22, to shape a programme of work to help enable him to deliver his manifesto and priorities, as we continue to protect the public of Wiltshire and Swindon.”

I understand this farce costs £100M What an utter and shameful waste of public money
Frankly, £100m is peanuts compared to how much money they waste on even more pointless - and damaging - things on a daily basis.

This also marks another change in that a Swindon based candidate has obtained a Wiltshire post, without any of the historical deference to the County Squirearchy.
After four years in the post the voters will understand what the PCC is about ,and will be more likely to vote in greater numbers in the next election.
