WEIGHTS were down in Sunday’s Wilts Angling match on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Horton.
Top spot went to Robin Guy, from Melksham, with 5 lb 6 oz of perch and roach, with Jim Butcher, from Bradford, runner up prize with 4 lb 2 oz of perch and roach.
Dave Bancroft, from Trowbridge, was third with 2 lb 2 oz of perch and roac.
Other placings: 4. Nigel Saunders Bristol 2 lb 0 oz; 5. Steve Saunders Melksham and Dave Baker Trowbridge 1 lb 12 oz.
THE cold conditions did not prevent excellent sport for Sunday’s Calne Open Pairs match at Hazeland.
Jesse Edwards, of Calne, carried off top prize with 11 lb 5 oz of chub, as Nigel Smith, of Calne, took 8 lb 5 oz of chub and bream for second.
Roger Durnford, from Newbury, was third with 6 lb 2 oz of chub and dace.
The pairs prize went to Edwards and Martin Dolman, of Calne, with 18 points.
Other placings: 4. Brian Johnson Calne 5 lb 8 oz; 5. Alex Hyde Chippenham 5 lb 4 oz; 6. Kevin Williams Chippenham 5 lb 0 oz.
THE Upper Thames Winter League practice match on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Marlborough saw Tony Scott, of Devizes MG, win with 6 lb 9 oz of bream, skimmers and roach.
Richard Chave, of Garbolino Blackmore Vale MG, took 5 lb 13 oz of roach and skimmer for second, followed by James Carty, of Devizes MG, with 5 lb 8 oz roach and skimmer catch weighing 5 lb 8 oz taken on pole fished pinkies.
Other placings: 4. Chris Telling Banbury Gunsmiths 4 lb 8 oz; 5. John Tocknell Maver Lobbys 4 lb 3 oz; 6. Fred Bedford Daiwa Gordon League 4 lb 0 oz.
THERE was a disappointing entry for Sunday’s Lavington match fished at Baldham Mill and only four weighed in at the end.
Top spot went to Chris Brown from Worton with a 7 lb chub catch, with Ken Morris, from Devizes, runner up with 2 lb 9 oz of roach.
Hilperton’s Don Keates, with 2 lb 7 oz of small chub and roach and Mark Easy, with 1 lb 2 oz of roach and dace made up the numbers.
