Firefighters called to Allington barn fire

Firefighters had to battle a blaze in a barn near Allington, in Chippenham, last night (Wednesday).

Around 40 tonnes of hay was reported to be on fire in a two storey barn at 9.12pm.

Two fire crews from Chippenham and a water carrier from Wootton Bassett attended with back-up later being provided by two appliances from Corsham.

The fire was put out later in the evening and it is understood that there were no injuries following the incident.

Engineers from Southern Electric were also in attendance to advise firefighters because there were power lines directly above the barn.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
